When the NDIS pays for dietetics
- The advice relates to your disability and helps with goals in your plan, such as safe eating and drinking, mealtime plans, tube feeding or managing weight linked to your disability.
- Your plan has funding for therapy, usually in Improved Daily Living.
- Food and groceries are not funded, and diet advice for a health condition not related to your disability (for example diabetes) is usually covered by Medicare or the health system.
What dietetics can help with
- Mealtime management plans and texture-modified diets
- Tube feeding (enteral nutrition) plans
- Weight, nutrition and energy linked to your disability
- Working with your speech pathologist on swallowing
