NDIS support services explained

A plain guide for participants and families: what the NDIS can pay for, which budget each support comes from, and how to find the right provider.

In short: "NDIS support services" are the supports your NDIS plan can pay for. They fall into three budgets: Core (everyday support), Capacity Building (building skills and independence, including therapy) and Capital (equipment and home changes). MyCarePlus helps with one part of this: therapy in Western Australia.

The three NDIS support budgets

Core supports

Help with everyday life: personal care, household tasks, getting out into the community, transport and everyday consumables like continence products.

Capacity Building

Building skills and independence: therapy (physio, OT, speech, psychology and more), support coordination, plan management, help with work, study and relationships.

Capital supports

Bigger one-off items: assistive technology such as wheelchairs or communication devices, home modifications and specialist housing.

Your plan shows how much funding you have in each budget. Some budgets can be used flexibly; others are set for a specific support. If you're unsure what your plan covers, your support coordinator, plan manager or the NDIA can explain it.

Registered or unregistered providers?

For therapy through MyCarePlus this is simple: NDIA-managed participants' supports are delivered and claimed through our registered partner, Active Help Pty Ltd (Registered NDIS Provider No. 4050027031), so every funding type is covered.

Where MyCarePlus can help

We focus on therapy: we connect participants with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, podiatrists, psychologists, dietitians and exercise physiologists who visit at home, at school or in the community, or by telehealth. We work across Perth, Joondalup, Mandurah & Rockingham, Bunbury and Busselton.

We don't provide support workers, accommodation or equipment. For those, ask your support coordinator, or search the NDIS Commission's provider register.
