When the NDIS pays for physio
- The physio relates to your disability and helps with goals in your plan, such as walking, strength, balance or independence.
- Your plan has funding for therapy, usually in Improved Daily Living.
- Short-term physio for an injury or after surgery is usually not the NDIS's job. That's normally Medicare, private health or the hospital system.
How much NDIS physio costs
| What | 2026–27 price limit |
|---|---|
| Physiotherapy, per hour | $183.99 |
| 45-minute session (0.75 hours) | $137.99 |
| 30-minute session (0.5 hours) | $92.00 |
| Telehealth | Same hourly limit |
These are maximums, paid from your plan. If your physio travels to you, travel time may also be claimed, but only if it's agreed with you first. Higher limits apply in remote and very remote areas.
Mobile physio: therapy that comes to you
A mobile physio visits you at home, at school or in the community. Many people find it easier to practise where they live their life, and family and carers can join in. MyCarePlus connects participants with mobile physios across Perth and in Bunbury and the South West.
How to get started
- Check your plan for therapy funding, usually in Improved Daily Living.
- Send a referral. You don't need a GP referral. You, a family member, a support coordinator or a plan manager can refer.
- Agree the costs in writing before the first session.

Does the NDIS cover physiotherapy?
Yes, when it's reasonable and necessary and linked to your disability and plan goals. It's usually paid from your Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living budget.
What is the NDIS physio hourly rate?
The NDIS price limit for physiotherapy is $183.99 per hour in 2026–27, with higher limits in remote and very remote areas.
Do I need a GP referral for NDIS physio?
No. You can refer yourself, or a family member, support coordinator or plan manager can refer you.
Does the NDIS pay for physio after an injury?
Usually not. Short-term physio for an injury or surgery is normally covered by Medicare, private health or the hospital system, not the NDIS.
